Before joining he spent nine years as a regulatory-affairs analyst, four of them writing responses to FDA warning letters on behalf of contract manufacturers — an education, he says, in the difference between a compliance failure and a quality failure.

He publishes the annual accuracy audit and is the reason the Journal states word counts, dates of last revision, and the specific estimand behind every trial number it quotes.
