A publication is a set of habits. Ours are: state the estimand; name the method; count the unanswered requests; print the correction with the same prominence as the error; and never describe as verified anything we have not seen. None of that is difficult. All of it is the difference between a magazine and a newsletter with opinions.
In this number, 60 pieces across 8 departments, with 110 further dispatches filed from the newsroom and 31 contributors on the page. We lead with Harriet Oduya on The evidence base is one secondary analysis, several small studies and a large amount of extrapolation from bariatric surgery and set beside it Evander Sittig in The Supply Chain. I keep returning to the observation that this is a manufacturing story before it is a clinical one. The molecules were characterised twenty years ago and the pharmacology is not seriously contested. What is contested — potency, sterility, provenance, price, availability — all happens between a reactor and a vial, and that is a beat with documents, suppliers, freight and margin in it rather than a beat with opinions.
